DEADLINE: KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS PFN, SK JOHN J. ROMERO SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The Knights of Columbus will be awarding a $1000.00
scholarship to one worthy graduating students planning to attend
college. High school seniors who are interested in applying
should email Mr. Robert Wright at principal@basilicaschool.com
for application instructions. The winning applicant will receive a
$1,000 college scholarship. Applications are due by May 17,
2019. The application needs to be submitted by:

tickets will be sold. Drawing will be held on Sunday, May
19, 2019 following the 10:30 Mass. Thank you to Keys Auto
Center for donating the car. All proceeds to benefit The
Basilica School.

SOCIAL JUSTICE MINISTRY

Social Justice, is a ministry here at the Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea that strives to help parishioners recognize and respond to their baptismal call to discipleship. Rooted in Scripture and guided by Catholic Social Teaching (CST), this ministry seeks to share with the Parish about Social Ministry and provide the means by which individuals and the parish community can use their gifts to serve the poor and vulnerable and to work for justice locally and throughout the world.

Cross (aka Edith Stein) wrote,

women are.” Have you been feeling God’s call to give what you
are to the community but just don’t know how? Join us as we
meet to read and discuss books, scripture, podcasts, and just
explore our faith as women in the Church guided by the Holy
Spirit.
The group has chosen the book, “I Choose the Sky” by
Emily Wilson. Join us on every other Monday in the Mary
Immaculate Room of the Klaus-Murphy Center. Our next
meeting will be Monday, May 13, at 6:00 p.m. Please also

Christian Initiation classes in English will begin on Monday, September 17th at 7:15 p.m.  Classes will be held in the SOS Room of the Klaus-Murphy Center.  Registration forms may be picked up at the Rectory Office.

 

Scripture Study @ Star of the Sea Room in the Klaus Murphy Center

SUNDAY SCRIPTURE STUDY
Starting on Monday, April 29 and continuing for the
next 13 Mondays there will be a bible study reflecting on the
scriptures for the coming Sunday. All are welcome to attend
and there is no cost for the class. Since the classes are
focusing on the readings for the upcoming
Sunday and are not sequential, it is not
necessary to attend all of the classes. No
registration needed, just come to the Star of
the Sea Room in the Klaus Murphy
Center at 7:15pm on Monday night
starting April 29.
